The new station, which is adjacent to the criterium track, has been installed for about three months and follows similar exercise equipment being installed along Taree's Manning River foreshore.
It was completed with a $20,000 State government grant awarded under the community grants scheme, with an additional $2000 provided by the Rotary Club of Taree.
A strong contingent of Rotary members gathered with member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead and Greater Taree City Councillors Brad Christensen and Kathryn Bell for the January 12 opening.
Mr Bromhead said former Rotary member Ken Patterson was the "driving force" behind the project.
The new equipment consists of four different machines which can be used by a total of six people at once.
The equipment was suitable for all members of the community Mr Bromhead said, ranging from athletes using the recreational centre as well as aged people.
