The open days, held on Monday and Tuesday, were an opportunity for the community to have a closer look at the organisation, as part of a directive issued by the state commissioner Stacey Tannos.
In terms of rescues it has been a quiet Christmas period for the unit, which is something they are happy about.
"We haven't had one rescue, which has been excellent," said Crowdy Harrington unit commander Keith Richardson.
Commander Richardson said this could be attributed to recent poor weather, but also to boaters having improved equipment, as well as being more aware and more safety conscious.
The open days come ahead of the Crowdy Harrington Marine Rescue markets to be held today (Friday January 1) in Harrington.
The markets act as one of the major fundraisers for the Marine Rescue unit, with more than 140 stalls to be present at the New Year's Day event.
Marine Rescue NSW has 45 bases around the state with about 3200 members and more than 80 vessels.
Each unit has to raise up to 70 per cent of their yearly operating costs through fundraising.
