Mikaela received two seconds, a third reserve and champion for grade 1A and 1B combined.
"I am absolutely stoked with my results," Mikaela said.
"I have been riding Phaaorcfields Rapunzal, also known as Rappa, since February this year so to achieve State and nationals level in the same year is awesome.
"It was also great because I was competing in a combined grade of 1A (walk only) which I am, and 1B (walk trot) so to place where I did against riders who ride a higher grade was a huge achievement and to do so on my own horse was amazing."
Compared to State, Mikaela found competition at national level was much higher. Mikaela explained at the nationals there were 49 competitors from all over Australia and riders of different riding levels from led events to para-equestrians.
"Even though this was a competition, everyone was friendly which is great," she said.
"One big difference for me is that unlike previous years, I didn't have any of my fellow Manning Great Lakes riders with me so I did miss that but enjoyed making new friends and getting to know my teammates who are on the RDA NSW dressage squad."
Mikaela's short term riding ambitions are to continue forming her relationship with horse Rappa and gaining more competition experience.
In the long term she would like to aim for the Paralympics, but she believes "there is a long way before that".
"Thank you to Rappa, all the members of team Rappa, RDA MGL, RDA NSW, Team NSW, Wingham Anglican Church and anyone whom is a great support," Mikaela said.
