A sculpture and water feature now sits in the centre of the recently renovated arcade in Victoria Street, Taree and it will be officially opened by Greater Taree City Council mayor Paul Hogan during the Night Bazaar on Saturday at 7pm.
"The carving celebrates the original inhabitants of the Manning Valley, the people of the Biripi nation and complements the street carvings at the Victoria Street entrance to the arcade," said representative of the owners of the arcade, Maurie Stack.
"It is timely that we recognise the people who have inhabited this valley for tens of thousands of years and the carving is set off by the beautiful water feature designed by Charles Rose."

Mr Saunders and his daughter, talented artist Rachel Saunders will also open their gallery in the arcade. The gallery shopfront is located immediately adjacent to the new carving and water feature.
Work on the Centerpoint Arcade transformation has taken more than six months, according to Maurie, and was inspired by the advice of renowned placemaker David Engwicht who visited Taree in June last year to meet with the tenants.
The visit inspired creative thinking and Maurie says "we are delighted with the response to this major renovation."
"Our tenants have been affected by this major building work over the last six months and we hope that the community will reward them for their patience whilst enjoying the ambience of this locally owned and operated arcade in the historical heart of Taree."
