Trevor regularly flies down this section of the coast. However, he's never seen a shark so close to the shore at Old Bar.
"I've seen plenty of dolphins doing their thing and lot of whales, but never a shark there," he said.
There was no-one in the surf at the time.
Trevor landed at Old Bar and immediately warned the caretaker at Taree Old Bar Surf Club along with the manager at the caravan park. Old Bar Beach was closed during last Friday's heat wave conditions following a shark sighting.
Trevor said he was flying down to One Mile Beach at Forster earlier in the month when he spotted sharks near the Old Bar entrance chasing a school of mullet.
"It was like you'd see in the wildlife documentary, they were ducking in and out of the school. But the water was really dirty and I only got a poor quality video of it," he said.
