The preschool successfully obtained capital works funding through the NSW Government to extend the one unit preschool to a two unit facility.
In addition to this generous assistance, the preschool and the local community also contributed financially to this project.
The preschool has received in the vicinity of $35,000 in cash donations, donated furniture, equipment and building supplies, discounted products and numerous volunteers donating their time to assist with all elements of the project.
"We are overwhelmed with the generosity and support of our community," preschool director, Merrilyn McLoughlin said.
The building works have been part of the school curriculum for 2015. The children have been amazed with the workers. "They have a radio so they can dance or maybe relax," pre-schooler Trae observed, and "Dogs don't go to work," said Max.
The children have also been fascinated with the builders. "Why is he up on that wall? It's very dangerous, isn't it" remarked Courtney. "Where will the toilet be," said Joel, and "They have put up a thousand walls," stated Mani. Xander said "I can't wait to play with the new toys."
The building is a great example of what community and government working together can achieve, Merrilyn said.
Minister for Early Childhood Education, Leslie Williams will officially open the extensions. This event provides an opportunity to invite all those who collaborated to celebrate the modern teaching facility this partnership has achieved.
