Nominations for next year’s Australia Day awards are now open, and Greater Taree City Council is looking for those individuals and community groups whose contributions throughout the Manning Valley make us even greater.
“The Australia Day Awards are an important tradition that allow us to celebrate what makes this country great,” commented Mayor Paul Hogan.
It may be a friend, a work colleague, a community leader, or someone who has achieved great success in our community. Now is the time to recognise the unsung heroes amongst us, who through their dedication and hard work make a positive impact on our society.
Four award categories are currently open for nomination, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, and the Ken McDonald Memorial Sport Star of the Year.
Nominees and finalists will be recognised at the annual Australia Day Award Ceremony, to be held at the Manning Entertainment Centre in Taree on January 26, 2016.
“We’re fortunate to have so many community-minded people living in our region, and the awards are a terrific way to recognise them and say thankyou”, added Mayor Hogan.
Nominations can be made by completing an official nomination form, available online at taree.cc/australiaday, and at Greater Taree City Council customer service centre and your local library.
