The new captains are Gabbie Aarons-Burton, Lucas Mepham and vice captains Jamie-Lee Carter and Harrison Hillyer.
School captains of Taree High School for 2014/15 Lily Minihan and Thomas Fletcher carried out their final captain duties in hosting the official assembly.
They welcomed Greater Taree City Council mayor Paul Hogan, who read the SRC pledge the students followed and offered his own thoughts on the importance of leadership.
"It's great to have leaders who can work out the goals and aims for the school to follow," said the mayor.
Executive principal Alison Alliston offered her words of encouragement for those who put their hand up to run for SRC.
"I would like to congratulate anyone who nominated. It's a big thing to do, and if you weren't sucessful, there is always next year,"she said.
The executive principal also gave credit to SRC co-ordinator Melanie Walker and Kimberly Gurr who constantly go above and beyond" in their work.
The co-ordinators, former school captains, year advisor and executive principal were all part of the interviewing panel for new captains.
As the new school captains stepped on to the stage you could see they were brimming with excitement for what is to come.
The Manning River Times got to catch up with the new captains who already have a swag of new ideas for the school next year.
These ideas included building stronger bonds with senior and junior years, putting more emphasis on arts and academic achievements by including them in the annual Spirit Day points tally and continuing the work of the former captains in creating a local conference for captains.
Outgoing captains Lily Minihan, Thomas Fletcher and vice-captains Emma Croker and Nicholas Starr, gave some crucial advice to the captains of 2015/16.
They said delegation to the younger year's during stressful times for senior students is essential. They also want the new captains to know how essential it is to work together and distribute work evenly. They hope the captains conference that was started this year between other local school's will continue to create the basis for possible collaboration and events between the schools.
