Students from Taree High School's various singing groups and bands came along to entertain the children with a number of big musical acts, before joining the children together in a special song.
The students from kindergarten to year six had been rehearsing and learning the song "Gold" in preparation for the big day.
The song was performed with the two schools together at exactly 12.30pm, to coincide with a national live web cast of students singing from around the country.
Vision of students with the Sydney Opera House and various other scenes around Australia were projected on the screen for the children to see.
For the students of Taree West Public School it seemed they didn't wanted the song to ever end, they were bopping along to the instrumental, giving enthusiastic arm movements and even performed a short encore.
