All councillors present, with the exception of Cr Peter Epov, voted in favour of awarding the construction of the block to the business.
During the process mayor Paul Hogan left the room to avoid a conflict of interest as it was his business that had been nominated to complete the work.
The construction of the new building will be paid for by a grant of $92,860 secured by council in collaboration with the Crowdy Head Surf Lifesaving Club under the State Government's Public Reserves Management Fund Program.
The council proposes that once the new amenities are complete, the old toilet block will be demolished.
The grant does not cover this aspect of the project, with $16,030 to be allocated from general revenue to complete the work, bringing the total expenditure to $108,890.
During the request for quotes, four contractors attended a site meeting and four submissions made. It was determined by council that CJ Hogan and Co Pty Ltd provided the best value for money.
The new toilet block will be almost identical to one recently built at Black Head.
In August Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club president, Allan Davis described the news as "awesome" and spoke of the support of Greater Taree City Council in getting the project 'shovel-ready' to try to secure the funding.
