COMPETITION basketball returned to Saxby's Stadium in Taree earlier in the week following a break for the school holidays and the two week recess took the teams a little to hit their straps but most of them did so although the skills were a little bit rusty.

All players now involved in competitions conducted by Taree Basketball should now hold a current individual Basketball NSW player registration to maintain their playing status and those who don't can expect to be prevented from taking the court.
Excitement levels of primary and high school students are rising with the very popular Saturday school competitions covering school term four to fire up tomorrow.
Team nominations were still coming in at the time this article went to print which is great but has delayed the production of the draw for the first round.
The schedule for the day will be posted on the website, www.taree.basketball.net.au as soon as it is finalised and for those players in the kindergarten to year two group you will be on court at 9am, followed by year 3/4 mixed group, the 5/6 girls, the year 5/6 boys then the high school group.
Several of the junior representative teams heading to Port Macquarie next month for the Coast 2 Coast Classic will train when the Saturday competitions wrap up and although it is not possible to provide times here is the schedule for those training sessions:? U15G and B, following by U13G and B.
The Magic Monday skills sessions will be back on Monday October 12 for those young players wishing to work on the fundamental skills of the game.
Sessions start at 4pm and for the cost of just $2 represent great value for money.
More importantly they are fun and are held in a safe and friendly environment at Saxby's Stadium.
