Rainbow rugs, delicate wedding cakes and loveable stuffed toys were amongst some of what was already on display.

When the Manning River Times called in mid Thursday afternoon June Yarnold and Megan Mace were inside one of the Taree Showground's pavilions busily pinning photos to the wall for the ever expanding photography section.

"There's a great amount of entries in this section," said Megan, who is a steward and also an entrant in the cake section.

Megan admits entries in certain sections are petering out, but hopes in future local schools could involve their students by getting whole classes to enter sections.

June, a steward and a judge in the flower section, will be entering a number of crochet items including a rug and table runner.

According to June, entrants this year are most definitely across all ages with a painting piece coming in from someone who is only two-years-old.

President of the Taree Show committee Milton Johnson said everything has been going well in regards to set up and they will be ready to start show activities today with the pony club kicking off at 8am and the junior heifer show commencing at 8.30am.

Milton also stated there was a strong amount of entrants in the equine section. Though saddened by beef cattle not being part of this year's program due to safety issues caused by the cattle shed being unfit for use, Milton believes the dairy cattle will put on a great show.

According to Milton kids will have an array of things to keep them contained like face painting, reptile shows, puppet shows and more across Saturday and Sunday.

Milton is positive the wet weather will hold off for what he believes will be a fantastic 137th Annual Taree Show.

The weather on Friday is predicted to be partly cloudy, with a maximum of 23 degrees. This cloud cover will create comfortable weather conditions for those watching and participating in these sections.

Temperatures will rise slightly on Saturday to 26 degrees, with the mostly sunny prediction creating pleasant conditions for the viewing of various animal sections, entertainment, and the Grand Parade starting at 2.30pm with horses, old Holden cars, old tractors and dairy cattle. The show will officially be opened by local icon Bruce Moy, following his opening address, the 50th Taree Showgirl will be sashed and she will deliver her acceptance speech. The comfortable weather will continue in to the evening, when northeasterly 20 to 25 kilometre per hour winds are set to become light. Night entertainment will include the V8 Trackskill, lawnmower racing, local musician Jim Bird and the fireworks display at 8.30pm.

On Sunday, temperatures will rise to 28 degrees, with a possible shower developing in the late afternoon.

If the weather follows the forecast, rain should hold off for the show's final display with V8 Trackskill followed by Bangerz Race Drive on two wheels competition and the demolition derby.
