It backed the Tidy Up Taree funding application to Greater Taree City Council and in its letter of support stated the toilet block "design, presentation and cleanliness are all suffering from years of neglect".
TAPBC revealed its longstanding connection to the Manning River; for the last 18 years it has hosted four club days and an Easter Powerboat Classic and this year celebrated 65 years of powerboat racing on the Manning River.
"The Manning River has played host to two world powerboat championships and a world kilo speed trials, which has seen visitors and competitors from all over the world coming to Taree.
"TAPBC fully supports this initiative. These improvements will go a long way to improve the first impression of tourists to Taree and will be a great asset for the community to use."
Manning River Rowing Club echoed the comments of TAPBC and highlighted the fact that more people now use the Manning River foreshore.
"The beautification of the foreshore with the addition of the pathway and exercise equipment draws even more people to the riverbank," stated club secretary Louise Beeton. "A new public amenities block is now even more necessary."
Manning River Dragon Boat Club added its voice to the Tidy Up Taree funding initiative and stated in its letter of support to council that at the club's January regatta, "we were embarrassed to offer these as the toilets for the event."
"We fully support this initiative. These improvements will go a long way to improve the first impression of tourists to Taree and will be a great asset for the community to use," explained club secretary Anne Williams.
