"It's always nice to play closer to home," Jon told the Manning River Times.
The English-born turned Aussie rocker and television star currently lives in Coffs Harbour and will be making his way down to Taree to perform at the Manning Entertainment Centre on Thursday, October 15.
Jon said he remembers his last visit to Taree well, and commented on the great performance space that is Manning Entertainment Centre.
He and his eight piece band will present 'Trilogy of Rock' - a salute to the theatrical concerts, 'The Rock Show', 'Rock Show More', and 'Rock Revolution'. Jon explains there is "so much versatility" amongst his band, with them swapping between at least 30 instruments to ensure that big rock sound.
Jon and the band will play classic rock hits of the '60s, '70s and '80s from such bands as The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, and much more.
Amongst covers, Jon will also delve into his own songs.
Upon having his interview with the Manning River Times, Jon had been reading on the devastating incident that happened to Australian band Thirsty Merc.
The band lost their stage manager Shane Cooper in a car accident in western Victoria that has left the band's drummer Mick Skelton in a critical condition in intensive care. The pair had been driving to a gig in Warrnambool on Tuesday, September 22.
Jon says he previously worked with Mick Skelton's brother Peter and found the incident deeply upsetting.
Jon admits sometimes touring can be a necessary evil when dangerous incidents like this occur.
"It's horrible and shocking and a big heads up to travelling musicians," said Jon.
"I just hope he gets better soon".
