"WE have a highway, a railway and now we've got an aviation business park," federal member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said at the opening of Taree Airport's $3.1 million business precinct - the Taree Aviation Business Park.

Greater Taree City Council mayor Paul Hogan and Dr Gillespie officially opened the park, which has been designed to service the needs of aviation-related businesses. It features 21 lots which will be sold off in staged releases, with seven available now.
"We have already seen strong levels of interest from professionals and business owners from outside the region," Cr Hogan said.
The lots will be suitable for a variety of business functions including warehousing, recreational flight experiences, couriers and freight depots, aircraft manufacture or maintenance, and charter services.
The Australian government provided $2 million in funding and a further $1.1 million was contributed by GTCC.
The government funding was provided from the Gillard Labor government which gave $19 million for new and upgraded infrastructure and facilities at Port Macquarie, Kempsey and Taree airports, in the 2011 budget.
Mayor Hogan said it marks an important milestone for the area, and hopes it adds to existing local businesses or attracts new businesses to the area.
"This new development is a great win for our community by attracting business investment into the area and generating employment opportunities," Cr Hogan said.
The mayor said the park's service has already attracted business from those as far as Townsville. First National Schultz Commercial are in charge of marketing the park to a wider audience.
Mal and Wayne Schultz of First National Schultz Commercial say they will be plugging the proximity of the park to the airport and the location of it being between Sydney and Brisbane.
