The Light the Night walk will take place at dusk on Saturday, October 3 at the Old Bar Beach Festival.
Walkers will meet at the Old Bar Beach Festival stage for the walk to commence around 5.30pm.
Australians will join together as one, to remember loved ones and their own blood cancer journey, or simply to show they care.
Old Bar Light the Night team will also be at Old Bar Beach Festival selling merchandise. They will have shirts, sunflower pins, umbrellas and more, as well as the lanterns for the walk.
"We will then move closer to the stage at around 4pm to get ready for the walk. This is where the people that have signed up can come and pick up their lanterns," explains Leanne Wood.
"We will do a talk regarding the walk then commence around dusk."
Light the Night is now in its eighth year and its third for the Old Bar Beach Festival and raises funds for blood cancer research and support for families affected by the disease.
"Light the Night will be extra special this year as the whole of Australia unites to create a brighter future for people with blood cancer," Christine McMillan, general manager of the Leukaemia Foundation in NSW and ACT, said.
"It's always an uplifting and visually stunning event that brings families and friends together to light beautiful lanterns, but with so many walks on a single night it promises to be a spectacular year.
"As dusk settles, thousands of Australians will light the night by raising their lanterns and carrying them along a gentle walk."
Each Light the Night attendee will complete a short walk carrying one of three coloured lanterns gold to remember someone, white for their own journey, or blue to show they care.
