It sounds like the blurb of a novel and one day it could be.

Author Sharyn Munro moved from her Upper Hunter Wildlife Refuge to the Manning Valley in late 2014.

She spent years living alone with the sounds, smells and creatures of the Australian bush as her only company.

Sharyn's journey in the bush was a sustainable one with the life there and her solar-powered mud brick cabin being subject of two books 'The Woman on the Mountain' and 'Mountain Tails'.

Sharyn moved from her mountain home to Upper Lansdowne to be closer to her daughter and family in Old Bar, who had moved from the coal pollution in the Hunter.

The latter motivated her to research and write her third book, 'Rich Land, Wasteland'.

After moving to Upper Lansdowne Sharyn was amazed at the community presence of the Upper Lansdowne Hall.

"The hall really is the centre of the community," Sharyn said.

When a flyer on the Upper Lansdowne Players landed in her mailbox she decided to get involved.

Sharyn said that when she saw the huge turn out for this year's May Upper Lansdowne Players event, in which she had a role, "I couldn't believe the amount of coaches arriving with people to come see the show."

Despite having not acted since university, Sharyn has four roles across the two performances.

She enjoys the youth involvement and the humour of the plays.

"It's so good to give the young people a good chance to get experience.

"The Upper Lansdowne Players will present two one-act comedies. The first being 'George' by Derek Hickman, which is described as 'Confusion and delusion take over a hospital ward, but who's really in charge?' and the second being 'Half an Idea' by Bob Larbey, described as 'A playwright tries to write drama, set at a wedding and then a funeral, but it keeps turning into comedy!' Dinner shows will be held on Saturdays, October 10, 17 and 24, with doors opening at 6.30pm, to be seated at 7pm, with the show beginning at 8pm. For $35 you will get the show and three course meal.

It is a BYO event.

The matinees will take place on Sundays, October 11, 18 and 25 with doors opening at 2pm, to be seated at 2.30pm, with the show starting at 3pm. For $25 you will get afternoon tea, during the pre-show and at the interval. Organisers urge it is best to book early to get the best seats.
