A POLICE operation involving the dog unit in Taree on Friday, July 31 led to illicit drugs being discovered on four people.

The operation, set up on the south side of Martin Bridge, resulted in 300 random breath tests and 13 vehicle searches.
Twenty two people were searched with four cases of individuals having prohibited drugs on them.
Inspector John Sullivan said that despite it being "concerning that people have prohibited drugs in their possession" the operation was "very pleasing."
"Manning Great Lakes police take pride in removing drugs from the community," Inspector Sullivan said.
In other crime news, police arrested three young people over the weekend after they were called to a premises on Railway Parade over reports of smashed windows.
The arrested youths will be dealt with under the young offenders act.
In another incident over the weekend, police are investigating acts of malicious damage against several businesses on Muldoon Street between Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2.
The windows of the businesses had been smashed.
