St Joseph's Primary School in Taree will host the event next Tuesday, July 28 and parents are urged to register to attend the event as soon as possible.
The purpose of the event is to teach parents how to identify anxiety in their children and to offer strategies and skills that will enable parents to support their children as they work through various issues.
Dr Irvine is popularly known as 'Dr John' and many Manning Valley homes would contain copies of his books 'Who'd be a Parent", 'A Handbook for Happy Families' and 'Thriving at School.'
In 2007 he produced four DVDs to compliment his 'Handbook for Happy Families' that addresses parenting challenges with children aged 0-5 years, 6-11 years, 12-16 plus years and his unique child management method called Reparations.
Dr John also regularly appears on news and current affairs programs, writes for several newspapers and has a radio segment called 'Coping With Kids' that is broadcast throughout Australia.
He is also a patron of Family Day Care, Home Start, NAPCAN, Kidsafe and ambassador for playgroups.
Dr John also contributed to the development of 'Drinkwise', a 10-year campaign aimed at parents regarding the important role of parental education in regard to the under-age drinking issue. He helped to formulate some of the strategies used in this initiative to get the appropriate message across to parents and children.
The event will begin at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and entry is a gold coin donation with the money to be donated to a charity.
Registration for the event is essential at www.mn.catholic.edu.au/drjohn
