Courtney Houssos MLC collected the petition bearing 5410 signatures from Manning Health Committee chair, Don Macinnis OAM and Dr David Keegan, the Labor Party candidate for Myall Lakes in 2015 State election.
Mrs Houssos travelled to Taree on Saturday to meet with Dr Keegan and Mr Macinnis to discuss the issue of health infrastructure funding.
"The fact that 5410 people signed the petition shows there is a real and growing concern in the community that adequate funding has not been provided," Mrs Houssos said.
"While I was up there I also read in the newspaper that the business chamber is forming a health action group and the mayor is very vocal about the issue of funding.
"There is clearly an issue in your area and growing community support for campaigns to ensure promises of hospital and health services funding are delivered.
"Stephen Bromhead (member for Myall Lakes) has repeatedly said that Manning Hospital was on the priority list; but there's no value in being on the list if it delivers no funding, or insufficient funding."
Mrs Houssos said she would present the petition to the member for Port Stephens, Kate Washington to enable it to be tabled in NSW Parliament.
"She has constituents in her electorate who live in Bulahdelah and they access services at Manning Hospital," she added.
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said the NSW?Budget contains an allocation of $1.35 million for the Stage 1 redevelopment of the renal and oncology services and planning for Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the hospital's redevelopment.
"In February, Health Minister Jillian Skinner and I announced the funding and I am delighted that not only is the first part included in the Budget, but also the Forward estimates include funding for the building works," Mr Bromhead said.
"The NSW Government's commitment is for Stage 1 of the redevelopment to be completed during the current term of parliament and the Budget shows we are on track to achieve that.
"The planning process will include each of the three stages which is a major component that must be completed before any building works can commence."
Mr?Bromhead reiterated that the Baird Government was committed to the $20 million stage one redevelopment of Manning Hospital.
"Work will begin in the next term of the Baird Government," Mr Bromhead and the Health Minister Jillian Skinner stated before the March election.
"Stage one of the Manning Hospital upgrade is the first step in the major redevelopment of this facility and will deliver a significant enhancement of cancer care and renal services," Minister Skinner said in February.
