James, 23, will be making the trip south from his current base in Brisbane.
With the majority of his gigs currently taking part in the sunshine state, trips to his hometown of Wingham have become increasingly rare for the bright young musician.
It has been a busy year for James so far, with regular gigs and travelling taking up much of his time.
In January and February of this year he travelled to Vietnam, filming the video clip for his song "How am I to know" on the streets of Hanoi.
It's part of a hectic schedule as James pursues his music career full time.
After appearing on reality shows Australian Idol and X Factor all before the age of 23, James is enjoying taking his time with his creative process.
"I've been writing a bunch of songs, but I can't put a time on when they will come out," he said.
"I'm not in a hurry which is a nice feeling."
After producing mostly pop-rock music through his young career, James said he had recently begun getting back to his country music roots.
"I grew up doing country stuff, now I've been working on a few different things with song writers, getting the passion back for it again," he said.
James said he always looked forward to coming home and performing.
He made special mention of Trevor and Tanya from Bass N Blues, who he said, "pretty much got me into music."
"Despite being away it's still my hometown, and it's good to get back and see familiar faces," he said.
