The 38 representative players vote on the positions.
Taree off to State Age
TAREE and District Netball Association will be represented by 38 players comprising of four teams at this weekend's annual State Age Championships.
The 12s and 13s team will compete in division three hosted by Penrith District Netball Association, while the 14s and 15s will compete in division four hosted by Hawkesbury City Association. The competition will run from tomorrow through to Monday with teams playing an average of 17 games over the three days.
The teams will be accompanied by TDNA president Ruth Smith, vice president Anthony King and acting rep co-ordinator Claire King along with umpires, Karla Agnew, Janine Kennewell, Renea Lane, Stacey Watson, Mel Adamson, Rose Toy and Marion Neale.
Teams have been training since January along with competing in the Monday night indoor competitions and attending representative carnivals throughout the time. The 12s also play in the Intermediate Pool B Saturday competition.
Chelsea Green has been voted association captain with Mikayla Stone vice captain.
The 12s are in their first year of representative netball and have experienced a steep learning curve. Their development under the guidance of their coach Lindy King and manager Mark Chicken has been inspirational.
Samantha Chicken and Ellie McLeay are captain and vice captains. Samantha and Ellie along with Jazmin Campbell are versatile players who can play in both attacking and defensive positions.
Chanel Liefting , Lara Slade and Zara Lyons make up the defensive end of the court.
Ashlee Smith, Katelyn Page and Maddison Eakin control the midcourt bringing the ball out of the defence end into our attacking zone.
Taree 13s have six players returning from last year's team, Lylah-Belle Wilson, Hope Extrem, Laura Watman, Charlotte Hogan, Molly Reid and Kiara Hollis.
They are joined by Emma James and Emily Rainger who both played State Age last year for Gosford and Narrabri respectively and are new players Taree this year. Faith Saunders, Georgia Lane and Annabelle Perkins will be competing in their first State Age this weekend. Rebecca Chicken and Vanessa Hogan return as coach and manager.
Coach Rebecca Chicken is pleased with the improvement and positive attitude the girls have shown throughout their training and carnivals. The team has some wonderful attacking and defensive combinations, with all the girls being great team players. This was evident on Monday night when the girls took out the grand final of their indoor netball division with an impressive 11 goal win.
The team has had an unfortunate setback with centre court player Molly Reid breaking her wrist at the
Lakeside representative carnival on June 14. Molly's injury has provided extra motivation for the girls to play well.
Charlotte Hogan and Emily Rainger have been voted co-captains.
Eight return from 2014
TAREE 14s have eight players returning from last year's State Age netball campaign with an addition of two new players to make a squad of 10.
Hunter Willett and Ebony Bridges were selected by coach Mandy Moscatt and manager Jess Bridges to be captain and vice captain. Hunter Willett, Lillian Smith and Mia Lyons are the team's defensive players whose strengths are rebounding and taking some spectacular intercepts. Thalia Simon, Paris Sharpe, Logan Towers and Georgie Stephen are the midcourt players who ensure the ball moves seamlessly down to the attacking end.
Ebony Bridges, Karlee Latham and Kirsten Moscatt handle the shooting pulling off some amazing shots. The team won an intense indoor grand final on Monday night. Mandy and Jess are both extremely happy and very proud of the team's efforts.
Taree 15s compete at their last ever State Age this year. They have six returning players from 2014, one other with State Age experience and two newcomers. They have developed from a diverse little group of girls into a tight knit team of young women. Confidence has grown as they have learnt each other's game and worked hard on the basics with coach Rachael Keating to enhance their skills. The hard work has shown signs of breaking the surface and is ready to explode at State Age. Every gala day they have attended in the lead up to State Age has produced an improved team effort with this culminating in the team winning the grand final in the indoor m competition on Monday night.
The 15 will be led by Chelsea Green and Mikayla Stone, who are the chosen leaders and voices of the team. Both play with a passion and direct the team with a wealth of experience.
Madison Darlington, is a tiresome worker at the back of the court. She never gives up.
Abby Sheather, is the quiet achiever of the team, she never complains, actually she never says much at all, but is always there when she is needed.
Holly Harrison, is a coach's dream - a player who loves to play wing defence. This newcomer shows a lot of grit and determination.
Tianna Latimore - every team should have a Tianna. She is a player who is versatile who can move between both attack and defence.
Chloe Crossingham, has the height to scare most shooters, and is great on the rebounds.
Taylah Hamilton, has shown she can fit into positions at both end of the courts, and will play a valuable role for the team at State Age.
Tjnaya Fish, the other newcomer who has come out of her shell. She has never played shooter before, and now she will never play defence again.
Mark Sheather returns as manager again this year.
