Advocates will hold an information stall in Taree CCC from 10am to 1pm on Friday, June 26, to give away information packs and display artwork developed by Year 10 students through the LoVE BiTES domestic violence and sexual assault prevention program.
Jodie Abbott, specialist domestic violence support worker from the Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Service said, "Our service has provided specialist support to literally thousands of women across the Taree and Forster communities since 2008. Our Community Partnerships Against Domestic and Family Violence project was initially based at Taree Police Station. We moved into the Family and Community Services building in January this year. It's hard for women to reach out for support - we simply want to remind women we're here."
There are a range of services available in Taree for women experiencing domestic violence including crisis accommodation and brokerage, court support, counselling and police.
Jodie's service can be contacted on 6592 0297.
A number of local services will be handing out information packs at the event including Samaritans, Family and Community Services and Catholic Care.
The event is an initiative of the Domestic Violence Monitoring Committee.
