Over the past three koala breeding seasons there has been a massive increase of sick, injured and orphaned koalas coming into their care which has now put a huge strain on the organisation's small budget.
In the 2014/2015 koala breeding season they assisted and cared for 100 koalas.
Koalas are being admitted after motor vehicle hits, dog attacks, displacement from habitat destruction, joeys that are orphaned, diseases such as chlamydia, retrovirus and cancer, fire and a number of other ailments.
At present KIC does not have enough funds to provide for the koalas that will require help in the next koala breeding season which will commence late August.
KIC provides a full time year-round Koala Rescue Service with highly-experienced koala rescuers answering those calls for help from the general public.
The group also provides education on koalas to the general public by attending community events including Envirofair, Killabakh Country Day, talks to schools, scouts and other interested groups.
Paul and Christeen, KIC founding members, have been working with koalas in this area since 1993 and have dedicated 22 years to the local wild koalas.
KIC was established in 2005 and is a registered charity/not-for-profit independent organisation run by volunteers.
They rely on the generosity of the community and fundraising to fund our work with koalas.
KIC will not be able to continue to operate unless they receive support financially.
All money raised stays in the local area to assist our local koalas.
Donations can be made through Paypal, direct credit or cheque/money order/cash.
KIC will acknowledge your donation on their Facebook page.
