Jason Wing was in Taree for the Asian Manning Festival at Manning Regional Art Gallery last week, where he helped Taree High School year 12 visual art students to create a new permanent mural at the gallery.
Jason started out as a street artist and believes it is the perfect way to engage teenagers and to detract from anti-social behaviour like vandalism and offensively worded graffiti.
"Murals gives young people something to do," Jason said.
"They feel a part of the community, and are less likely to want to damage it."
The gallery's new mural reflects the change of seasons.
"With it being an Asian festival, I wanted it to be about the elements," explained Jason.
To create the mural students learnt about stencil art and using this skill, they created various shapes of leaves, ready to be stenciled onto the wall.
"The students will have done 90 to 95 per cent of the work," Jason said.
