Running from 10am to 2pm and without any speeches or performances, the school is hoping to entice interested members of the public to enjoy an informal look at what a modern high school looks like.
Students will be running a barbecue for peckish on-lookers.
Senior mentor at Taree High, Glenda Hutchinson, said the open day was about ensuring strong community connections with the high school.
In what is the 90th year for the school after its 1925 founding, the open day also hopes to attract alumni ahead of the formation of an alumni website for which the school sought fundung.
Reconnecting with alumni is an important way of highlighting the school's value to the community, said Glenda.
"This is the community's school," Glenda said.
"We want to open the school up and keep those connections with the community."
