Melanie has 18 years experience in her field. She completed her Psychology degree in South Africa and worked in a forensic setting. She furthered her studies in England where she qualified as a Clinical Psychologist. Melanie moved to Australia in 2008 and currently works at Clinical Psychology Solutions in Taree where she has been for the past seven years.
Melanie works with families, adults, teenagers and children and is particularly passionate about working with young people and teenagers. She is the mother of three children, including (recently) a teenager.
Melanie’s talk will focus on:
o New neuropsychological research about the developing brain
o Issues teenagers and parents of teenagers, will face during the teen years
o How we can get the best out of our teens
o Turning possible conflict into connection
o Developing emotion regulations and relationships
Between the ages of 12 and 24 the brain undergoes many important changes. Teenagers brains typically seek novelty and social engagement, have increased emotional intensity and a higher need for creative exploration.
These evenings are free. Session One – Tuesday June 2 and Session Two – Tuesday June 23, 2015 in the TCC Theatrette. RSVP to Kylie Reed on 6539 0100 to secure your place.
