More than 330 fire stations across the state will throw open their doors this Saturday May 30 from 10am - 2pm, including those in Taree, Forster and Wingham.
Mr Bromhead said the annual Fire and Resuce NSW Open Day is a great way for people to get a greater understanding of the important role firefighters play in the community.
“Our community depends on the hard work of local firefighters which is why open days like this are so important,” he said.
“Firefighters at the three stations in our region will give safety demonstrations, fire prevention advice as well as fire station tours.
“Kids can also see the fire trucks as well as firefighting equipment – there will be something there for the whole family,” Mr Bromhead said.
Minister for Emergency Services David Elliott said that our firefighters respond to life-threatening incidents every day to protect our community – whether it’s a huge factory blaze, a cliff-top rescue, a vehicle crash with people trapped, or an incident involving hazardous materials.
Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day coincides with the launch of the annual Winter Fire Safety campaign.
