Kurtis was named player of the tournament and gained a place in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges under 18 team. The year 11 student is still 16. He attends Taree St Clare's High School.
Kurtis is expected to play lock although he also had stints at five-eighth and second row during the trials. He has just finished playing with Newcastle's SG Ball (under 18) side and is linked with the Knights for next year. The State side will play in the Australian championships in Wollongong in July where the Australian Schoolboy team will be selected.
Joel, 15, a year nine student, has been named in the NSW Catholic Country under 16s side and was considered unlucky not to make the State team. NSW Country will play a series of further trials at St Gregory's College in Campbelltown.
Like his brother, Joel is also a backrower. He plays for Old Bar Pirates under 15s in the Group Three Junior Rugby League.
Both were cheering for their cousin, Boyd Cordner, when he turned out for NSW against Queensland in Wednesday night's State of Origin clash.
