Live and Local is the biggest project of its kind and part of the Sydney Writers' Festival's ongoing commitment to bring ideas, debate and the world's finest authors to NSW audiences.
The project has been supported by the Australian government through its arts funding and advisory body, the Australia Council for the Arts.
The project is a first for Australian writers' festivals and will allow for more than 18 interactive events, featuring the world's best authors and thinkers, to be beamed live into arts centres and libraries across NSW.
Greater Taree City Council's senior leader for cultural services, Margie Kirkness is excited that our local community can be a part of this fantastic initiative.
"This is the first time key events from Sydney Writers' Festival have been live-streamed regionally and we are happy to be able to present this to our community," she said.
Our local audience will be able to participate in question and answer sessions as they happen and speak directly to their literary heroes.
The live-stream program on Friday, May 22 includes:
10am - 11am Don Watson: The Bush
11.30am - 12.30pm Writing Family: Kate Grenville, Ramona Koval and Barrie Cassidy
1.30pm - 2.30pm Growing Up and Other Disasters: Alan Cumming and Damian Barr
3pm - 4pm Anna Bligh: Through the Wall
