Unfortunately the weather conditions were not as kind for the event to go ahead on May 2 and 3. The committees have decided to try again, by hosting the event on May 16 and 17 from 10am to 4pm.
There has been much interest from people, as far away as Nyngan, Sydney and Melbourne.
"After answering numerous phone calls from interested people who were checking to see if the gardens were still open (despite the inclement weather), we have been inspired to try again," said Mr Lyndon.
A number of visitors to the area timed their stay to coincide with the Open Gardens but unfortunately conditions would not have been conducive to enjoy or safely explore the gardens. Hopefully we will have other tourists who will support this worthy cause on this next attempt.
The gardens are about an acre or more, with a variety of styles, plantings and garden features. There are beautiful water features, stone walls and arches, rainforest paths and statues. Four of the gardens have not been on display before and are an inspiration to the eye. The other gardens have new features added and have matured with age.
The $15 entry fee allows guests to view the gardens over the two days. Morning tea and lunches will be available at some gardens. There will also be a trading table and the possibility of artwork and garden furniture for sale.
The committees would like to thank the garden owners, volunteers and supporters for rescheduling their own personal commitments in order for this event to go ahead.
The proceeds will go to the RDA Manning Great Lakes where so many children across the region have enjoyed the benefits of this wonderful organisation.
On the day, look for the signs and flags, on the roads around Hallidays Point.
