At just 11-years-old, the Cundletown Public School student has returned from the Sydney Royal Easter Show with a major achievement under her belt - first place in the 10 to 13 year old paraders.
"I cried," said mum, Janine.
Janine sees the reality of Jess's dedication to her animals.
"She gets up at quarter to seven everyday before school."
"She feeds them the hay and pellets, ready for me to do the rest."
In the evening Jess practices leading with her cattle. Sometimes she can work up to 12 months with one cow before competition.
Jess shares a special bond with one cow in particular, Pot Pot.
When Jess gets off the school bus, she simply has to call Pot Pot's name for the cow to come pottering up to her.
Jess has helped rear Pot Pot from a calf and now as the cow reaches seven years of age, it's a friendship where they have both grown immensely.
Her challenge for the Sydney Royal Easter Show was taking another cow, one that she had only two to three months to get ready.
Jess met this challenge and led cow 'Whistling Dixie' and herself to victory.
Jess competed in the NSW State Championships for parading, with participants up to 25 years in age.
She made it into nationals, but unfortunately that around involves a 15-year-old age limit.
Jess likes the social aspect of showing, and also competed in the show's youth challenge with other kids from the Manning Valley.
Jess also competes at Dairy Week and other local shows including the Gloucester All Breeds Calf Show.
