It is believed to be the first time that a para-equestrian class has been held in country New South Wales, with competitors usually having to travel as far afield as Sydney, Melbourne or Toowoomba.
The competition was presided over by qualified para-equestrian judge Nell Mashman, who lives in the Manning area and made herself available to judge.
The competition was well supported with five riders nominated to ride the FEI para-equestrian tests, the same tests ridden in the Paralympics.
Local riders Ryan McNeil, on Strait Smokin Jet and Mikaela Worth, on P Fields Rapunzel, both competed in the grade 1a rides, with Dale Johnston on TEC Macedon in grade two and Sui Watts on Springfield Festivity in grade three.
Sydney rider Kaye Hannan travelled up to compete.
The club is now in the process of applying to the Taree Showground to have a mounting ramp built to make mounting easier for all, especially para riders.
"The numerous positive comments from able-bodied riders on how inspiring it was to have the para riders included was indicative of how inclusive this sport is," event advisor Janet Watts said.
"The club should be congratulated on taking this initiative, I know all the para-equestrians involved were extremely grateful."
