This will include the course proper as well as the golf club.
"The club will now be run by golfers for golfers,'' Harrington Waters GC president Peter Budden said.
Mr Budden said the club had a membership of 160. He added that a special meeting called to discuss taking over the club attracted 108 members.
"I think a turnout like that would be unprecedented,'' Mr Budden said.
Members overwhelmingly endorsed the move after lengthy discussion. Owners of the course, The Roche Group, have also given the move the green light.
The nine hole course opened in 2006.
Mr Budden said all the current green staff would all be retained.
Greg Roulstone will run the golf shop.
"We're not calling it a pro shop,'' Mr Budden added.
The club's cafe will continue to be open six days a week from 10am to 4pm with Anne Newman in charge.
Mr Budden said running the club would be 'a challenge' for his committee but he was optimistic about the club's future with the committee at the helm.
"One of our first objectives is to return the course to its former pristine condition for the enjoyment of all golfers,'' Mr Budden added.
