Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead visited the hospital in Taree on February 27 to deliver the promise to the electorate with the Minister for Health, Jillian Skinner.
One month later voters went to the polls on March 28 to deliver a 20 per cent swing to Labor to change the electoral profile of Myall Lakes from a safe National Party seat to one that is now held by a margin of less than nine per cent. The State result saw the NSW government returned to office and now comes the public expectation that election promises will be delivered.
The promise of $20 million for Manning Hospital featured strongly in Mr Bromhead's campaign, "this funding is for Stage 1 - it's about getting the cranes onsite and getting work underway. If I am re-elected on March 28, I will fight to keep the cranes there and to get the extra funding we need to complete this redevelopment."
In coming months the Manning River Times will work to assist the community to understand the process and progress of hospital funding with its 'Manning Hospital Rebuild Campaign'.
