Craig Robberds, who coaches Wests in the John I Dent Cup, and ACT Brumbies scrum doctor Dan Palmer will be named as Harris' assistants.
Harris is the Tuggeranong Vikings senior coach in the John I Dent and his appointment could add further fuel to the fire threatening to engulf the Vikings' second season in the NRC.
More than half of the Vikings' 35-man squad are Tuggeranong players, which sparked claims of favouritism from other Canberra clubs.
Vikings director of rugby Dan McKellar, who is also a Brumbies assistant coach, hit out at those concerns on the weekend.
"The fact is Tuggeranong has been the dominant club in the competition in recent years and that mirrors the squad," McKellar said.
The Vikings have been plagued by division within the Canberra rugby community, because they were formed with a three-way financial partnership between the Vikings Group, the University of Canberra and the Brumbies.
