Over 2500km of highway was covered with approximately 500 participants and 250 protest stations.
Signs and home-made banners were displayed opposing coal seam gas, calling for protection of water, health and communities and demanding the NSW Government ban all coal seam gas licences in the State.
Manning Clean Water Action Group members and supporters were out in force along the Pacific Highway.
"Our members are very unhappy with AGL's lack of community consultation in the Manning," said Christine Stanton, secretary of Manning Clean Water Action Group (MCWAG).
"Now that BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) has been found, gas has built up in the wells resulting in flaring and a gas leak detected, we are even more determined that AGL must stop their work and leave the Gloucester Valley.
"The headwaters of the Manning River must be protected.
"The science and now the results are saying that CSG extraction in the Gloucester Basin is 'inappropriate'. The people are saying, enough is enough," Mrs Stanton concluded.
The protest stations along the highway were diverse.
From farm machinery bedecked with a 6x6 "No Gas" banner, to a hula-hooping picnic, to tee pees and a human sized koala at another. There were banner drops off overpasses, roadside information stalls, and plenty of deckchairs, thermoses and waves.
Nicole Hunter from Coonabarabran was one of the first to propose the highway protest idea.
"We wanted to send a message to the government after the election that we're not giving up on protecting our water, land and our families from coal seam gas.
"We only intended to cover about 100km through the Santos licence area in the Pilliga, but the idea went viral. It strongly demonstrates the depth and breadth of concern over this issue, and that all types of people are getting involved to stand up for future of our country."
