Twelve films, the winners of the 2014 Foster Film Festival, originating from Australia, the US, the UK, Norway, Ireland, Spain and Singapore will be featured at the Garden Grub Café, preceded by dinner.
The films are family friendly and range in length from a brief four minutes with the longest being 23 minutes. Genre is varied and should provide something for everyone, including comedy, drama, musical and animation/CGI.
While the Festival is in its ninth year, this is only the second time it has come to Wingham. It was such a success last year that Greg Smith, coordinator of the Festival, and Sheree Ogden, proprietor of the Garden Grub Café, decided to run this year’s event twice, on successive Fridays. And Sheree is aiming to make it an annual event.
The cost for the evening is $30 per person, and includes dinner from 6-7pm and the films from 7-9pm.
All proceeds go back to the film makers. “We’re not here for the money, we’re here for the buzz,” said Greg. “It’s a real creative partnership.”
“Encouraging local artists to make films by showing films from around the world, along with locally made ones, is the kind of thing Garden Grub supports,” added Sheree.
Foster Film Festival has been accredited as one of the regional Australia’s premier film festivals, with one of its winners from two years ago being picked up by Disney.
Greg passionately encourages local people to make films and submit them to the competition, and says that the Festival is “favoured toward local backdrops”.
It is a popular event and seating is limited so bookings are essential. To book call Sheree at the Garden Grub on 6557 1110 or Greg at Foster Film Festival on 0414 722 596. You can learn more about Foster Film Festival at www.forsterfilmfestival.com.au.
