Cr Tickle unveiled a commemorative plaque, signaling a new era for one of Taree's most used sporting facilities.
Taree Park is used by almost 5000 people every year, and with the upgrades now complete, provides local sporting clubs with the opportunity to hold ticketed regional competitions. The upgrade works have included installation of perimeter fencing around Johnny Martin Oval, replacement of the turf wicket, grandstand improvements, delivery of a storage facility and improvements to the surrounding skate park, playground and croquet green.
The upgrades to Taree Park and Johnny Martin Oval were jointly funded, with the Australian government and Greater Taree City Council contributing $150,000 and $100,000 respectively.
