Successful applicants will be part of a team that will help council to restore the coastal wetland.
Northern NSW Regional Manager at Conservation Volunteers Australia, Leone Winner said the work experience taught young people a variety of skills.
"It's great for any kids starting out and they're not sure what they want to do," she said.
"It helps them learn social skills and gives them a workplace experience."
The program is geared towards young people with an interest in environmental conservation, with Leone saying past participants from Taree had been excellent contributors.
The program runs over 26 weeks with a 30-hour commitment per week required.
Not only will participants gain a hands-on practical experience of environmental conservation in Australia, they'll also develop a support network with fellow workers.
