"Digging up the past - archaeology for kids" will get the kids involved in a day packed with fun activities and exploration of a beautiful landscape.
Participants will explore Saltwater National Park along the sandy tracks and dense coastal rainforest.
They will search for mystery objects that have been buried, and discover the reconstructed shell mound or midden made from cleaned and mounded shell material. Some of the mystery objects are ancient and others come from long ago.
They will then take a look at these objects and learn where they fit into Australia's past.
This WilderQuest activity has been designed for school children and their parents.
"Digging up the past - archaeology for kids" will be held on Sunday, March 15, led by discovery ranger Keith Davy.
Bookings are essential. Phone Susan Phillips on 6588 5519 or email susan.phillips@environment.nsw.gov.au
