Rob Lewandowski passed Taree five days after starting his charity bicycle ride at Federation Square in Melbourne on Sunday, March 1.
He anticipates his 14,000 kilometre trip around Australia will take about another month to complete.
"The hills are a lot harder than I predicted," Rob said during a brief break.
"I did a lot of training in Tasmania - but not at this pace (where I'm) trying to do 400 kilometres a day."
Although he has completed several long distance charity rides previously, including a Darwin to Adelaide trip through central Australia, Rob said this was the first time he had attempted something of this magnitude.
The ride comes with a variety of hazards, with Rob being clipped on the elbow by a passing motorist near Bairnsdale in Victoria.
Luckily he managed to hold on to his bike, but the impact was enough to knock the side mirror from the passing vehicle.
Rob is looking to break the record of the fastest individual to cycle around Australia, which is currently held by Reid Anderton with a time of 37 days, one hour and 18 minutes.
His routine includes a nightly ice bath and copious amounts of water throughout the day to remain hydrated.
Support crew member Jade Child said the huge distance was difficult to train for.
"He'll tell you that it's impossible to train for something like that," Jade said of Rob.
"He's pretty fit, he's been eating really well, drinking lots of water and taking care of himself."
Alongside the record, Rob will be looking to raise "as much as possible" for Rotary's End Polio Now campaign.
Rob has previously raised more than $20,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania through charity rides.
His website has live tracking of his position around Australia as well as updates from Rob himself.
