The parents of Daniel Morcombe have converted their pain of his murder into a legacy, based on educating children across Australia.
"Daniel did not get a second chance. His legacy is that we can all learn from this tragic event," began Bruce.
"By linking Daniel's very real story to the importance of these safety tips, no longer will you think bad stuff only happens on the news or on the other side of the world.
"It can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime."
The presentation involved videos showing different scenarios and resolutions, each time coming back to the three core words - recognise, react and report.
Children were urged to recognise the feelings of being unsafe such as nervousness by focusing on their body language and to then react by getting to a safe place as quickly as possible.
The Morcombes emphasised the correct phone numbers for the children to contact as this is the essential last step of reporting the incident.
The Morcombes spend a lot of time on the road delivering this presentation.
Time not on the road is spent rallying for government changes. They have been successful in ensuring the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum has been recommended for inclusion in the national curriculum.
The Morcombes also have a range of educational tools and resources available for parents such as "Keeping Kids Safe", a free educational resource that contains a DVD, CD rom and booklet.
There is also the Daniel Morcombe Foundation's 'HELP ME' phone application, which offers immediate safety texts to be sent off if danger arises and an easy way to store car descriptions and other identification information.
