New shoes, new clothes and excitingly, new friends.
Although for twins KoKo and Kit Hardy of Upper Landsdowne School, their new kindergarten friend was made well before the first day of school.
The Hardy twins, are the only two students starting kindergarten at Upper Lansdowne, making this one of the smallest (and closest) classes in the area.
One of the larger cohorts of the area is Taree West Public School (TWPS), with 57 students starting in kindergarten.
"The best thing about big school so far is having a buddy," said Jessica Pritchard of TWPS.
"My favourite thing to do at school is play on the computers," said Patrick Hayes also of TWPS.
The numbers of kindergarten students for each of the local schools are; St Joseph's 74; Old Bar 70; Taree West 57; Taree Christian College 44; Cundletown 44; Chatham Primary 41; Hallidays Point 31; Manning Gardens 30; Nabiac 28; Manning Valley Anglican 22; Tinonee 21; Lansdowne five; Johns River four; Coopernook four; Manning Adventist four; Mitchells Island four; Moorland three; Oxley Island three; Hannam Vale two and Upper Lansdowne two.
