STARTING the same school as siblings can be troublesome.
Having to catch the bus together, seeing them in the hallways, getting found out that the last day of term is actually a 'spirit day' not a day off ... it's troubling times really.
But not so for 18 new year seven students at Taree High this year - the nine sets of twins are well aware of what starting school together is like.
The nine sets of twins are part of Taree High's 135 year seven student intake. They are the Hudson twins, Allie and Sarah; the Jones twins Hayden and Callum, the Ladmore twins Abby and Zoe; the Moss twins Samuel and Benjamin; the Pensini twins, Bree and Drew; the Pollock twins, Bree and Chloe; the Stevens twins, Zoe and Daniel; the Stewart twins, Oshen and Sage; and the Wesley twins, Harrison and Renae.
Times photographer, Scott Calvin was at Taree High yesterday to catch this historic gathering and he warned they weren't going to like what he wanted them to do.
When urged to stand together in a friendly manner for a photo, a few shouted "Do I have do stand near her/him!".
However executive principal Allison Alliston is fully confident each set of twins will settle in comfortably, with the school allowing them all their own space if needed.
The students' former primary school teachers help guide their placement in classes, explained Allison.
"Often the students are able to have what they want too," said Allison.
Luckily, only one set is identical, meaning there's little opportunity for any class swapping.
Who knows, by the end of these six years, they could each be the best of friends.
