CATHERINE Calvin promised the city will be hearing plenty more from the Tidy Up Taree/Civic HeART/Night Bazaar committees in 2015.
The Tidy Up Taree/Civic HeArt/Night Bazaar community event was named the Greater Taree City community event of the year for 2014.
Catherine accepted the award on behalf of the committee.
The award acknowledges the contribution of the collective of volunteers who worked to transform the central business district of Taree on November 29 by cleaning, painting, planting, installing art sculptures to complement the first Night Bazaar event.
Victoria Street in Taree between Manning and Pulteney Streets was the focus of the Tidy Up Taree team of volunteers.
According to Catherine "when we first started planning the night bazaar we had no idea how it would go".
"But when we saw the crowd that was there an hour before it was due to start, we knew we were going to be right. It went well beyond our expectations.''
Thousands of people attended the bazaar which was designed to introduce the project to the community.
"It will be bigger and better this year,'' Catherine said.
The Rotary Schools Spectacular and the Wingham Sesquicentenary of education were the other events nominated.
