Chris Carr, Anthony Cowan, Mal Webster and Steve Walker will play for the South Grafton Rebels in the Group 2 competition this year after signing with the club last month.
Their decision came after their former club was voted out of the Group 3 competition for the third time on December 9.
Former Souths junior Webster said that ties with South Grafton coach Dallas Waters and the prospect of playing alongside his Mustangs team mates lead him to sign for the club.
“I had a couple of other offers from different clubs but in the end I just had to do what is best for me,” he said.
“I’ve known Dallas for a while through Willy Lockwood and he has shown interest in me since the grand final. I am looking forward to not only playing with the guys from the Mustangs again but also meeting new people and playing competitive football in Group 2.”
Webster will be joined in the halves by Anthony Cowan with the pair set to link up again in a new team environment.
Cowan was instrumental in sealing the 2014 Group 3 premiership, kicking the golden point goal which led to their grand final victory against Wauchope back in September.
Having spent his entire senior career at the Mustangs, he didn’t rule out returning to the club in the future if their fortunes improve.
“It does put a bit of a hole in your heart to leave a club where you spent so much time playing, but that’s football,” he said.
“We all have to work around what happened and hopefully we will be able to play together as a team in the future. This year will be a new challenge for me and I will do everything possible to help my new team in its bid to win the Group 2 title.”
