Father George Anthicadu led the prayer service and Greater Taree City mayor Paul Hogan spoke of the tragic event.
“The outpouring of grief and sorrow has been felt by all our citizens in the loss of two outstanding brave people Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson is very evident,” mayor Hogan said.
“Our hearts go out to their families, especially to the three young children who tragically lost their mum.
“We need to keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they go on to try to rebuild their lives; the pain for the Dawson and Johnson families will never diminish, but with support and love and prayers, the nation will help them through this tragic event,” said mayor Hogan.
The service concluded with the laying of floral tributes.
