TAREE kids honed their cricket skills with cricket legend Doug Walters as part of the Home Ground Cricket Tour, which is touring NSW to promote the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2015.

The free Tour is part of an initiative by the NSW government to build excitement in regional NSW for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, and also promote the sport of cricket and in the State's regional communities.
Sydney will play a major part in the staging of the tournament by hosting three pool matches including South Africa/West Indies, Australia/Sri Lanka, England/Afghanistan, a quarter final and a semi-final at the SCG.
At Taree school kids got the latest cricket tips from Cricket NSW, and were able to view Cricket World Cup memorabilia from the famous BradmanMuseum as well as a giant inflatable replica of the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy.
Minister for regional tourism, John Barilaro, said the Home Ground Cricket Tour was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate cricket in Taree ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Sydney in 2015.
"The NSW government is pleased to support the event and give regional communities across NSW the chance to get involved in the lead up to the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015. I encourage cricket fans in regional areas to book their tickets early to see major cricketing nations go head-to-head at theSCG from February next year," Mr Barilaro said.
Doug Walters said the event was a fantastic opportunity to get the local community excited for next year's tournament.
"It's great to be here and tell our story to these kids and hopefully inspire them to play cricket," he said.
"It's special to be in Taree 57 days out from the World Cup, and give kids the opportunity to enjoy it."
The travelling roadshow will visiting 27 locations throughout regional NSW this summer.
