The cottage has undergone changes in management and staff and the new team intend to try to provide a more open and transparent service. Next year, they will offer new services like drop in hours, where anyone can drop by even just for a chat.
This and more will be communicated to those attending the open day, along with a meet and greet with new and old staff and a walk through of the cottage.
Kelly Cole, a psychologist at the cottage said the day would be about creating links with community and addressing myths within the service.
Another part of the day will be the unveiling of a new mural which now sits on the side of the cottage.
The mural project started five years ago and is the reason behind the beautiful murals around the hospital's exterior.
Each year members of the community or groups such as schools, come together to design and create a mural.
Damien Martin, the Aboriginal health and education officer has been head of this project.
"This year the mural has been created by clients at the cottage," said Damien.
The mural symbolises positive change, with a key signalling the opportunity to take your life where you want to go. A perfect symbol of the new and open future for the cottage.
